If you pay any attention to the news, you’ve likely heard of the Flint, MI water crisis by now. The city is in dire need of assistance as its own government has catastrophically failed to protect its residents from lead poisoned city water. Many have risen to the occasion to offer their assistance for the residents of Flint – between donating bottles of water, holding concert benefits or just volunteering their time – people have done their best to help out city of Flint.
A few passionate people in the alternative music scene have decided to organize and throw in their support with the relief effort. They have pulled together over 50 bands to release a compilation album titled Not Safe To Drink: Music For Flint Water Crisis Relief, featuring songs by many heavy hitting artists in the scene. Some of the artists who will be a part of the compilation are Pentimento, Craig Owens (of Chiodos), Anti-Flag, Real Friends, Taking Back Sunday and many more. Many of the artists are writing brand new songs specifically for this compilation, including Craig Owens. All of the proceeds will be donated to FlintKids.org – an organization focused on assisting the children of Flint.
The entire tracklist hasn’t been revealed yet, but the digital album is available for pre-order through Bandcamp for a minimum of $5. The entire album will be available February 20. Every dollar helps, so if you are able be sure to pre-order yourself a copy. There’s a little bit of something for everyone and it’s for a great cause.
