The Undertaking! just released a new track, “About Ghosts,” officially out on November 1, but you heard it here first!
San Diego band The Undertaking! started making music in 2018. Joined together by their love of hardcore music, band members Austin (vocals), Keith (guitar), Johnny (guitar, vocals), Brent (drums),and James (bass) jumped into the studio to record their debut EP, Scavengers in the Fall of 2018, with producer Daniel Bourget.
The EP was released in April of 2019, and the band hit the ground running, bringing their energetic live show all over SoCal venues and making a prominent dent in the San Diego hardcore scene. Most recently, they shared the stage with Earth Groans (Solid State Records), and Comrades (Facedown Records), on behalf of the legendary San Diego venue, Brick by Brick.
Hot off a slew of spring and summer shows, The Undertaking! are set to follow up their Scavengers EP with their much-anticipated single “About Ghosts.” Singer Austin quotes the lyrical meaning as being “about someone doing something stupid to you, and you realize you’re wasting space in your brain by thinking about it over and over. Don’t waste time worrying about stupid people doing stupid things.”
Mastered by Joey Bradford (of The Used), the single artwork was made by illustrator Dave Quiggle. The song has been in rotation in the live set for some time ,and it is a clear representation of the band’s volatile live energy and continued influence on the San Diego scene.
