Rick Rude have shared a new single, entitled “Ow For Now.” Rick Rude are a quartet from the quiet woods of Dover, New Hampshire but there’s nothing too quiet about their music. This comes following the recently announced new full length album, Make Mine Tuesday (due out January 20th via Sophomore Lounge and Tiny Radars Records).
“Ow For Now is a beautiful and haunting song written by Jordan Holtz (vocals, bass) about “accepting the fact that all bodies break down at some point and making the best of what you are dealt”. She elaborated, “I started having trouble with my hands a few years back when I really started getting into playing bass, come to find out that I had carpal and cubital tunnel syndrome in both my left and right hands. I felt really defeated by the fact that I had found something that I was so passionate about and wanted to do constantly but couldn’t/shouldn’t. “Ow” serves as a proclamation of acceptance and an establishment of motive to do everything possible to make it work.”
It’s an empowering song with knotted arrangements and tangled melodies, led by Holtz’s vocals that pull between strength and longing. As Holtz sings of her brittle bones, the songs casually twists and turns, stuttering in time with Holtz’s acceptance of her situation.
