We’re pleased to bring you the premiere of The Run Up’s music video for their new song “Portraits” (watch it below). The track is taken from the band’s forthcoming album In Motion, which is scheduled to be released on October 3, 2019 through Real Ghost Records (UK), Gunner Records (EU), La Escalera Records, Swamp Cabbage Records, Get Party! Records, &Vinyl Records, and Money Pit Music.
“We wanted the video to match up with the song meaning” confirm Daniel Baker, bassist who filmed and edited the video. “The lyrics are about spending so much of our lives staring at screens that give us impossible standards. Even when we are with people who we are close to, it can be easier to retreat than talk about all the things we should. In the video, we wanted to show the dynamic of how it feels society is heading… a father spending all his time on his phone, looking at this false world created by try-hards and so called ‘influencers’, but in reality he has his son, the best thing in his life right there in front of him. We need to snap out of this new world that we are creating for ourselves and get back to basics… go outside, talk to each other, live your life your way, not how someone with a few million followers has.”

About the band:
Featuring singer Larry Bernhard, guitarists Charlie Parsons and Lawrence Nelson, bassist Daniel Baker, and drummer Stu Lloyd, The Run Up formed as friends in their hometown of Bristol in 2014.
The band made their full-length debut with 2017’s self-titled, which placed them firmly on the radar as One to Watch across the punk rock scene. Arriving in 2018, their second studio release Good Friends, Bad Luck was praised as “EP of the Year” by Colins Punk Rock World and had the band dubbed “one to dominate the scene” by Shout Louder.
Their heard-touring approach to being a band has seen them carve out a strong reputation in the European scene, as one of the best bands live based on the basis of their fun, energetic and passionate shows which are often sweaty, high tempo and full of fist-pumps, singalongs, and crowd surfing.
The extent of their touring has led to the band playing over 150 shows across 12 countries in two years, sharing the stage/tour bus with Such Gold, A Wilhelm Scream, Off With Their Heads, Spanish Love Songs, Iron Chic and Red City Radio.
With their roots and hearts still firmly in the DIY scene, The Run Up are progressing to become one of the most exciting bands on the punk rock scene.
