We’re pleased to bring you the premiere of SunGhosts’ music video for their song “Broken Mirror” (watch it below). The track is taken from the band’s upcoming album Oathkeeper.
Nik Olas of SunGhosts commented:
Nik from SunGhosts here! The ‘Broken Mirror’ vid was shot in one day and it came out so sleek! It tells the story of the song in such a mysterious & minimal way.
Huge thanks to Deathspin Films, the Steingold household, and the lovely ladies who danced elegantly in the vid.
As for the upcoming aaaaalbuuuuum… I can’t wait to share these songs! It was rough getting the process started though, like pushing a tractor out of the mud. But thanks to my band members and a special amigo named Quaz we cranked out 7 songs that are very SunGhosts, but also very different. Much love <3
Upcoming Shows:
May 18 – Sunset Tavern
May 28 – Pérez Art Museum Miami
June 24 – Open Stage Club
June 26 – WDNA radio station 88.9 FM
About the band:
Nik Olas, songwriter/frontman, met Arminio aka “Croc” in his Miami-Dade College music business II class. Nik had left his previous band the year prior and was playing guitar in a hip-hop group in the meantime while searching for musicians that could help him manifest a certain sound he was hearing. Arminio was in. Then Nik met Jared, bassist, at a house party and sparked convo over Nik’s Red Hot Chili Peppers tattoo. Followed by a 3-hour jam odyssey, Jared was in. After three-piecing it for their first show on Halloween of 2013, Arminio brought in his childhood friend and drummer extraordinaire, Louie, who quit his weekend Blue Martini job to be in the band. Their first release, home-cooked in Nik’s garage/weight room, was the Phosphenes EP, named after the spots that blind your vision long after staring at the sun. The single “Til the City Goes Under” was a piece about Miami youth and seemed to strike a chord with the locals.
Since 2014, SunGhosts has gone on multiple tours, played Summerfest, the first annual Okeechobee Fest, rocked 5 shows in 4 days at SXSW, won Miami New Times’ best band of 2015, and released a 14-song LP with indie Miami label Orchard House Music.
As of March 2018, Arminio and SunGhosts parted ways, but they are still close friends, as he is focusing on his film career and making music videos for the band.
