Trash Sun are described as a countrygaze band (yes, that’s what it sounds like, alt-country and shoegaze) from Milford, NH and Boston, MA. They’re gearing up for the release of their new EP Live Free and Die, a title that is a delicious play off of the New Hampshire state motto. The EP is due out November 8 and the video for the first single “When I’m Blue” is streaming now on YouTube.
“When I’m Blue” has its own sort of rustic emo quality to it. Moving from a melancholy shoegaze intro to more lively, energetic song with buzzing guitars, this song is an emotional journey that ends with a very noisy catharsis. The video opens on a video call between two band members and then transitions into using unusual video effects to convey the overall mood of the song, which it matches perfectly.
