“Summer Sun” is the new single from Anglo-Italian four piece Matinée and was produced by Billboard topping producer Tony Doogan and Chris Geddes from Belle and Sebastian.
This is the first single from forthcoming album Event Horizon, a 10-track, neon journey through ’80s-influenced, keyboard-based, indie-rock. Soaring keyboards and guitars chime with indie lyrics and big hearted, pop choruses.
“Summer Sun” is an homage to Orwellians books, featuring a love story between two young lovers on a hot summer day who are trying to forget the current political situation. It’s about escapism from a depressing and dark political climate and the need to look towards moons, planets, and stars, searching for a better place that maybe can no longer be found on Earth.
The video also has references to Brexit and how the love story between two young guys is made challenging by the current political circumstances. The band Matinée is named after Scotland’s very own Franz Ferdinand’s hit song “The Dark Of The Matinée.”
