Brooklyn-based rock band A Place To Bury Strangers are back after the release of their EP, Hologram, with a new song and video, “Playing The Part.”
Singer and guitarist Oliver Ackermann has worked to refresh the band’s lineup, adding bassist John Fedowitz and drummer Sandra Fedowitz to the mix. Hologram was the first release with the new lineup, and the EP was met with critical acclaim. (We gave it a 5/5!)
While the band often embrace noisy and aggressive antics, “Playing The Part” has a glorious guitar tone, an active and melodic bass line, and graceful vocals from Ackermann, showing listeners a side of the band they may not often see.
The video was directed by Heather Bickford and looks to match the song with visuals, underscoring its beauty alongside its strangeness. Bickford also stars in the video, which includes shots of Ackermann in a historic house in Flagstaff, AZ that looks completely taken from another time.
