Taking absolutely no time off this year, Brett Altman is back with his fourth release of 2024. My Way Out is a project that holds a lot of personal meaning to the New York based singer/songwriter, one that is helping him make breakthroughs with his musical growth and identity as an artist. Altman is harnessing newfound inspiration in the hopes that it will lead to new breakthroughs for his musical career. With a tightknit group of friends working together to help make this album possible, its easy to tell how much passion went into it.
The songs featured on My Way Out are his poppiest to date. It seems that Altman has found his way into what has become his dance music era. The LP is full of catchy hooks, groovy bass strums, synth accompanied instrumentation, and the type of heart-on-your-sleeve lyrics people can relate to. This genre is new for the musician, having predominantly relied on his vocals and acoustic guitar until now. However, this leap into experimentation is opening new doors by way of production. Allowing himself to try new things has put some pep in his step and led him to discover a much more eclectic and energetic way of making music.
Speaking about this release and the process it took to produce it, Altman had this to say: “My Way Out” (the single) is the breakup anthem I leaned on whenever I regressed in my healing process. It proved to me I could be so much more than I thought I was and hope it does the same for others.”
The new LP follows his Spring residency at Pianos in New York and a string of performances in Los Angeles at the beginning of summer. Altman has no intention of slowing down any time soon and is planning to keep up the momentum with more live shows over the next few months. His favorite place to be is on stage engaging with fans and vibing out to the music in a communal space.
