The hardest working band in death metal, Cannibal Corpse, hinted the following to fans via social media on December 31:

“Thanks for all your support of “Red Before Black” and all our touring in support of the record. Time to enter the crypts and begin work on the next record. Keep supporting death metal in the new decade!

Cannibal Corpse released their last bludgeoning effort Red Before Black three years ago and have been doing plenty of touring since, recently coming off a North American tour with Thy Art Is Murder. Since guitarist Pat O’Brien was arrested in December 2018 and charged with aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer with a deadly weapon and burglary of an occupied dwelling with assault or battery, Erik Rutan (Hate Eternal, ex-Morbid Angel) has been filling in on live guitar duty for a chunk of their recent tours.

Cannibal Corpse have since stated they stand 100 percent behind O’Brien and await his return. O’Brien was released from jail after his arrest, but his legal status is currently unknown.
