News: L.S. Dunes Release New Single ‘Old Wounds’

Today, punk-rock group L.S. Dunes released their newest single “Old Wounds,” the second of two songs recorded in the desert back in April before their show in Pioneertown at the one and only Pappy and Harriet’s. “Benadryl Subreddit,” the first of the desert releases, and “Old Wounds” were produced at Rancho de la Luna by Alex Newport (Death Cab for Cutie, No Devotion, the Mountain Goats, etc.).

Similarly to “Benadryl Subreddit,” artist Gordon Douglas Ball designed the cover for the single. Depicting the infinite, nighttime desert sky—conversely to the daytime painting accompanying the first single—the band cite this time in the desert as inspiration for the creativity that flowed throughout Rancho de la Luna.

The five-piece group chose to document this special time in the studio by creating a documentary called “The Limitless Sky” with help from Nick and Patrick Demarais—sibling filmographers who also provided content for L.S. Dunes’ summer tour. Earlier this week, the second and final installment of the documentary came out on YouTube much to the delight of the band’s Lost Souls—a nickname lovingly bestowed upon fans of the group.

“The Limitless Sky” documentary series offers an intimate look into both the creation of these two new singles and the dynamic of the band. Most of all, the documentary depicts just how much each member of the band looks up to one another, and at the band’s heart, it’s just five friends getting together to play music, which is exactly why the band started in the first place.

As for the rest of the year, you can catch L.S. Dunes at Riot Fest, or supporting Pierce the Veil—along with Dayseeker and Destroy Boys—on their upcoming winter U.S. tour. Tour dates can be found on the band’s website
