Rina Sawayama, an artist that is paving the way for the next-gen of future pop, has just signed to Dirty Hit based in London. This superstar is breaking the boundaries of what pop sounds like coming into the new decade.
Taking us to the way back, we take glittery synth riffs and modern concepts and marry them into a seamless discography. In addition to Sawayama’s signing, she has also released a new track titled, “STFU!” This track takes on a 2000s nu-metal sound, and its message hinges on actual acceptance, not thinly-veiled racism.
Sawayama has been very vocal about her struggle with microaggressions and how she is no longer willing to take it silently. “STFU!” is an anthem for anyone who has been targeted for their race and identity.
