Carissa Johnson & the Cure-Alls are stoked on their new lyric video for “The Upside,” out as a single November 1 via A Diamond Heart Production.

The third single since their full-length album debut as Carissa Johnson and the Cure-Alls, “The Upside is a power-charged, angsty, punch-to-the-gut-and-heart anthem teetering between desperation and hope throughout the course of its three short minutes.

Incorporating more synths and backup harmonies by guitarist Steph Curran and staggering dynamics of hooks riding on hooks, this song is bound to keep playing in your head long after it ends.

“The Upside” is vulnerable and raw, but it’s also dressed up and ready to take punches just as hard as it throws. Influenced by early oughts hard-rocking power-pop chords and more modern indie-synth-rock feels, this track holds true to what they do best while also offering us a new side of their collective personality.

This song was recorded, engineered, and mixed at Mad Oak Studios in Allston, MA and was produced and engineered by Benny Grotto. The track was mastered by Brian Charles at Zippah Studios in Brighton, MA.
