SAGE has made one simple promise to their listeners: Music that makes you feel. Their new single, ‘Sick Of It All’ delivered on that promise tenfold.
From day one, SAGE has raised their hand with new ideas to engage different listeners across the spectrum of rock, and ‘Sick Of It All’ has a little bit of it all, in the best way. The track begins with a synth-like sound that is found across their discography. The intro delivers you into a heavy guitar groove, with a nice call and response between the heavy vocals.
By far, my favorite part of the track is the bridge and the breakdown. The build up of the instruments paired with the sound of labored breathing brings the listener to the edge of their seat, followed immediately by a very rewarding, heavy breakdown. The band worked with Hiram Hernandez to bring ‘Sick Of It All’ to life, and together they made something new, but also stayed true to SAGE’s sound.
The video for ‘Sick Of It All’ tells the story of someone looking to escape the expectations set upon them by the world around them. Alex Kouvatsos has directed multiple SAGE music videos, but this one is on another level. The themes of isolation are painted in a way that make you feel like you’re alone in the room, while the quick shots of the artists further the panicked feeling of needing to run away from your own mind.
If you’re a fan of music that begs for deeper thinking- or a good breakdown, ‘Sick Of It All’ is for you. Welcome to the experience; Welcome to SAGE 2.0.
