Flotsam and Jetsam
Self-Titled
(AFM Records)

Perhaps known mostly for being the band that Jason Newsted played bass with before joining Metallica, Flotsam and Jetsam never really reached the height of their thrash metal contemporaries. On their twelfth studio record, they still seem to be on the lower-end of the metal food chain. Tracks such as “Seventh Seal,” “Taser,” and “Creeper” all contain some decent riffs that manage some minor impact; yet the majority of the album is simply filler that goes in one ear and out the other rather quickly. I wouldn’t invest much time unless you’re already a member of the Flotsam and Jetsam fan club (if there even is such a thing). (Jesse Striewski)
