If you haven’t heard of them yet, you should start listening now, because Slo TV are releasing their debut album Incomplete Structures. This album is a landscape of experimental sounds and feelings, ranging in genre and scope, masterfully put together to form something unique and beautiful.
Created by Tom Conran, one of the engineers at True Level Studio, and one of the voices behind the podcast The Record Process with co-host Casey Cavaliere of The Wonder Years fame, Incomplete Structures is a strangely familiar listen that is both gripping and comforting. Going past production and songwriting, it creates a feeling for the listener, transporting them to another realm where everything seems to be at peace.
Lead by single “Keep Up”, this song is the perfect song to debut for Incomplete Structures. It encompasses everything the album is about. Sparkly lead guitar, hard-hitting drums, and a mellow sound crafts this song into a song that truly shows how well Slo TV can write a song.
All the tracks on Incomplete Structures are incredibly well done. From the opening track “at least, I Think So”, a slow build up to the album that explodes at the end, to the closer “Free Hands,” a song that ends on a powerful note, each track offers something to all listeners alike.
Incomplete Structures flows beautifully. Each song acts as a chapter in the story of this album, going into the next song without flaws or hesitation. That’s partly due to the production on this album, which is nothing short of fantastic. Each instrument is bright and can be heard perfectly, without interruption.
Slo TV are able to encompass multiple genres that flow very well into each other, ranging from emo to post-rock and shoegaze. They have created a unique album, and it looks like they will only get better with time. Incomplete Structures was nothing short of a pleasure to listen to.
Give Incomplete Structures a listen when it drops on May 6. Slo TV has so much potential if this is their first full-length, and I’m excited to see where they go next.
