Today’s New Noise: Of Wolves

Of Wolves

Of Wolves is a combination crust punk, sludge, and stoner doom band out of Chicago, Illinois. We previously featured them as a Bandcamp of the Day back in 2020, but they’re back, and they recently put out a new video for their cover of The Misfits’ classic track “Die, Die My Darling” (which they’ve re-stylized as “DIE DIE (my darling)”), and it’s streaming right now on YouTube.

Of Wolves put together a glitchy, hardcore, noisey cover of the classic track, eschewing the original Misfits melody for a cacophony of pure noise and terror. The video is full of flashing lights, glitchy cuts, and images of absolute horror and violence, leaving a visceral impression on the viewer. It ends with information about the devastating reality of domestic violence, bringing the cover to a very different moral place that the original ever went to. Check out the video below.
