Ahead of the release of their forthcoming album, Kool Hangs, out November 12, Floored Faces is sharing the new song and video, “I’d Be Broke,” exclusively here at New Noise.
The new LP has Floored Faces—Joe Syverson (guitars and vocals), Erik Cargill (bass), and Colin English (drums, synths)—exploreing the absurd, but still tangible, fantasy of an apocalyptic world where the only personal belongings remaining are a motocross bike, a cassette copy of Monster Magnet’s Dopes to Infinity, and a shotgun.
The new track, “I’d Be Broke,” is about time slipping away from the main character in the fantasy concept, with the album’s other tracks exploring the character, concept, and the band’s real-life trauma.
The band chat more about the song and its themes, “‘I’d Be Broke’ is a love song to time and space —fleeting experiences with a flash flood of life always coming at us full steam. It’s about holding people and memories we love close. Dedicated to a close friend who passed away too soon: never spend your time unwisely , never go broke.”
