News: Blueburst Release ‘Vanish’

Blueburst (founded by Craig Douglas Miller) are an alternative rock/post-punk band that came to be through survival and resilience in the face of clinical depression. After 20 years of not working on music since his previous band (The Reach), Craig set up his home studio again, dug in, and completed a bunch of original songs, creating his new band, Blueburst, named after the finish on his favorite guitar.

Legendary guitarist Marty Willson-Piper (The Church, Noctorum, All About Eve) is part of how this all happened. Thanks to him, Craig found what he was missing, a trusted mentor and collaborator. Then came the rest of the band, which include drummers Michael Jerome (Better Than Ezra, Richard Thompson) and Brian Platt (The Cads), along with Ryan Kelly (Dayroom) on bass. Now the band are releasing a new album, Vanish, which will be out this fall.

The lead single off of the album, “Vanish,” is inspired by alternative music from the ’90’s underground, filled with heavy rock guitars and a new appreciation for life and love for music. Turning 50 got Craig out of mid-life crisis mode and gave him a new “do it while you still can” thought process.

Many of the songs focus on making a difference while you can, which can be heard with lyrics like, “I’m not strong enough to carry / It’s not our fault,” and “But this all moves too fast, to lose another day.”

“I wasted 20-plus years doubting myself and not finishing any music. So it’s extremely gratifying to be back now with the best music I’ve ever made. And it’s been a joy doing it with one of my favorite guitarists of all time,” Craig shares. “Most of my friends, and a lot of younger people as well, are still listening to the albums we grew up with, I think because there’s a rawness and honesty in that music. That’s what we aspired to with Blueburst.”

The song is out now on streaming platforms. There will be new singles each month through the summer and live performances this month.
