Just when you thought Boris was done giving this year they surprise you again! Starting today, Boris will begin making their past limited releases available for sale on Bandcamp through a series they are calling Archive.

Archive will begin with the release of three live CD’s that originally debuted in 2005 from the US label, “aRCHIVE.” The original 600 CD run sold out immediately, can be expected give the level of excitement that the band can inspire in their fans. These same three live albums were then later reissues at Archive I (Vol. 1, 2 & 3) in a limited quantity of 1,000 copies which collectors and fans again ate up like they were bathed in honey.

Also slated for release is Archive II (Vol. 4, 5 & 0). This set consisting of previously unreleased early demo tape recordings and compilations spanning Heavy RocksAkuma no UtaDronevil, Mabuta No Ura, and up through PINK.

Last month the heavy rockers and experimental elders released a Bandcamp exclusive album titled NO. The album was a ripping throwback and return to a sound that the band has not explored since at least their Heavy Rocks (2002) era. It’s an astonishingly good album that shows how hard the band can rock when they’re not trying to expand the human consciousness with their more esoteric recordings.

NO by Boris

You can get a copy of NO from Boris’s Bandcamp page here.

Let’s face it, live music probably isn’t coming back anytime soon. In the meantime, these collections of raw and live recordings may be your only and best way of enjoying Boris’s remarkable live performance for the foreseeable future (that is unless you recorded the band playing on your cell phone at some point, but I would almost guarantee that the Archive series has it over you in the quality department).
