Legendary hardcore thrash band Power Trip have released their first music since the passing of Riley Galey in 2020, two singles titled “Precinct 3” and “Scavenger.” A music video for “Precinct 3,” directed by Eric Richter, has also premiered today. Anyone familiar with Power Trip’s unique brand of frantic, dizzying, high-tempo metal will be thrilled to hear the band’s first recorded music in nearly a decade.
An exclusive 7-inch of the singles is available for pre-order here, and a Record Store Day Black Friday exclusive with alternate artwork will be available at indie record shops across the country later this autumn. Find your nearest location here.
“Recording worked out really well for us because he has the knowledge of making these big records, but also comes from the late ’80s extreme metal underground,” recalls drummer Chris Ulsh. “We’re tough to please because we want something that sounds current, but most importantly we want it to sound like us, however that comes out.”
Power Trip plan to release a full-length album in the spring of 2027 on their new label home, Blue Grape Records. The band also has a few live dates this fall, below:
Oct 21: Mexico City, MX – Slayer: Reign In Blood 40th Anniversary
Oct 24: Fort Worth, TX – Sick New World Texas
Nov 20: New Orleans, LA – The Great NOLA Trendkill
“Precinct 3” and “Scavenger” are available to stream everywhere now.
