Today’s New Noise: Deux Visages

Deux Visages

Deux Visages are an indie/shoegaze band out of Miami, Florida. The band, whose name is French for “Two Faces,” recently put out a video for their third single, called “February,” appropriately enough at the beginning of February. The video is streaming right now on YouTube.

“February” opens on a slow bass line, guitars that are somewhere between jangly and fuzzy, and gently brushed cymbals before the delicate femme vocals come in to tie everything together. The song continues to slowly build up momentum until the dam breaks and the song launches into an energetic garage punk style with gorgeous melodies.

“’February’ is about what it feels like to be in love for the first time—an experience that is usually nerve-wracking and uncertain, but helpless in the face of total infatuation,” explain the band about the new song. “The track was inspired by 90’s romance movies, especially 10 Things I Hate About You. The band (Daphney, Jack, Tony and Antoine) wrote the song together.

The video, which depicts an “anti-prom” party, gives off a distinct indie rom-com vibe, complete with awkward make out sessions and a game of spin the bottle. Check out the video, directed by Nas Bogado, below.
